Full Paragliding Licence (PG2)

The PG2 course is the final section of your full paragliding rating and is equivalent to the IPPI 3 rating (International Pilot Proficiency Identification), allowing you to fly anywhere in the world. You will be provided with a comprehensive theory document to help build your knowledge.
This course typically takes 4-6 weeks depending on your availability, conditions and your rate of progress.
The PG2 course covers and tests for the following NZHGPA syllabus requirements:

Set up equipment and pre-flight checks

Forward and reverse inflations and launch

Big-ears, with/without weight shift

Pitch and roll control
-
High and low bank turns
-
360-degree turns left and right with pitch and roll control

Rear riser control in flight and landing
-
Speed bar, with/without big-ears
-
Landing within 20 m of a predetermined spot on 2 consecutive flights

Top landings, slope landings
-
Knowledge of rescue parachute deployment and PLF (Parachute Landing Fall) techniques

Understand alternative landing approach methods

Appropriate site, weather and risk assessments

Demonstrate a safe attitude for self and others

Know and obey the right of way rules when flying with other aircraft

PG2 log book requirements:

Total 5 hours flight time including a total of 100 mins achieved in no more than 10 flights

Total 40 flights from authorised launch sites

Flights from at least 4 different launch sites to at least 3 different landing areas, one must be inland
-
At least 5 launches with wind strength of 9 kmh or less
-
At least 5 launches with wind strength of 17 kmh or more
-
Pass all PG2 theory and keep an accurate log book

Once this is complete, you will be signed off and hold a full PG2 paragliding rating.
